Do you send these kind of personalised videos to promote your MSP?

I'm talking the kind you record on Vidyard, Bonjoro, BombBomb, or some other platform. It's you, sitting down, talking 121 to someone through a video rather than an email.

When you open your mind to it, you can spot opportunities to send these every day:

  • To say hi to someone who's just connected with you on LinkedIn
  • Or thank a client for their patience while you cleared a problem
  • Or show a client how to do something, with a screenshare
  • Or to explain a proposal to a prospect
  • Or to introduce your team to a new vendor

They can be planned and formal, like the individual video welcome I send to every single new member of the MSP Marketing Edge:

Or off the cuff and informal, like this one I just recorded in McDonalds 🤣 Sometimes informal comes across as more real, and certainly less likely to be mistaken as AI-generated.

(which is good, in my opinion. As AI-generated content becomes more and more widespread, you should be working harder and harder to be seen as human and real)

(having said that... wow... I really look less wrinkly with proper studio lighting!)

Here are 3 (of many) reasons why MSPs should send personalised videos to prospects + clients

1) They still have huge impact

People really do not receive personalised videos as often as you think, even though the tech has been around for years. The average person might get only a couple a year. Anything that rare stands out.

Most of the platforms create an animated GIF as the thumbnail. Do something smart like holding up a card with the recipient's name to really catch their attention and pique their interest.

2) You can track if they've been watched

Most of the platforms show you when a video has been watched. Sometimes my videos are watched 7 or 8 times. I interpret this as the video being passed around the business. Great!

From a sales point of view, you want to know if a prospect has watched your video, right?

3) They help you stand out and look real

Most MSPs aren't doing this. Anytime you realise that's the case, it's an opportunity to stand out. Don't do what most other MSPs are doing... do what they aren't.
